There could be no losers at FAntastic Stadium on Sunday afternoon, and the day ended in a festival for both sets of fans - in stark contrast to last years riotous scenes..
The two Midlands clubs gave us a thrilling final, which could have gone either way, so evenly were the two teams matched on the day, but in the end, maybe it was the intense pressure that the ILLEGIBLES were under to capture 'the double', that was the difference between the teams and eventually, their undoing in the penalty shootout. ( especially due to the fact that they only heard confirmation of their first League Championship as the game was going into extra time ! due to SPARTAKS slip at the final hurdle) BSE, on the other hand, tucked their penalties away with calm assurance to win the Cup for a second time..
There was a joint presentation of trophies at the conclusion of the match with both captains lifting their respective trophies. Gus Poyet first lifted the FAntacy Challenge Cup and then Alan Shearer lifted the Hallowed Championship Urn sending the 150,000 supporters of both teams into delirium. Shearer was also presented with the Golden Boot on behalf of his team after scoring his 300th career goal during the match.
